Installation tips and tricks
23rd August 2004

There are a whole lot of semi-truth, myths and out and out bullshit that filters through the audio industry. We expect it a little from the HiFi guys because they deal predominantly with the public who love a good story but it saddens us to think it pervades the pro audio scene.

Lets face it, the fundamentals of acoustics (and physics) do not change, even though some "experts" try to prove otherwise. New equipment and theories always come and go, but the basic principles of sound and its related concepts do not. With this thought in mind, we hope the following helps to enlighten a few young players.

Balancing   A hard act in the circus but dead easy for audio

Loudspeaker positioning   Where to put your loudspeakers for best results

Loudspeakers room sizes What size should you buy

Plus or minus 3dB   Who said 3dB would matter - we do

RF test and fix   Making it easier to save embarrasment with wireless

Video hum   You don't want it so get rid of it
